Horror and metal at S+F '08: Bruce Dickinson and Lordi
29.10.2008

Among the numerous events of this edition, two of them will be focused on music, for hard rock lovers. Two previews presented out of competition in the Neon section will see a main role played by hard rock and horror cinema: Chemical Wedding, directed by expert Julian Doyle (who worked on many Terry Gilliam movies), is written by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, while Dark Floors stars Lordi, the Finnish band that became a true national sensation after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. Chemical Wedding is a supernatural thriller, inspired to the disturbino legend created around the character of Aleister Crowley: he was an occultist, a mystic, a poet, an artist and one of the most obscure characters in the Edwardian England, and for many years Bruce Dickinson was fascinated by his story. Crowley, “the meanest man in the world”, is brought back to life and he upsets the lives of the Cambridge University students. As for Dark Floors, it’s the first horror movie with Lordi as leading characters: these monsters of fear lurk in a scenery made of hell, blood and mangled bodies. Obviously the band, besides acting, composed the original soundtrack of the movie.
