Silver Urania to Ray Harryhausen today at 11.30 am

This morning Science+Fiction will give the silver Urania, life achievements award, to eighty-eight years old Ray Harryhausen, stopo motion master, in video conference..
Harryhausen is the living history of this art, a filmic animation technique, used before CGI, based on the exploitation of frame to frame shots. Camera impresses one frame at the time, giving the movement impression of an atill object like puppets and clay models.
In the thirties Harryhausen received the Gordon E Sawyer Award of the Academy of Motion Picture of Arts and Sciences and has a star dedicated to him on Hollywood's walk of fame.
The events is scheduled for 11.30am at Urban Hotel.
